Here are some low key NYE suggestions to make tonight a little bit special for you & your family, even if you have absolutely nothing planned (which is totally ok!):

👉 Bathtime 🛁 : Take a relaxing bath with candles and stuff

👉 At Home Eatery: Order your favorite food, dress up (if you want) and dine in

👉 Dance Party 🕺💃🏻:The living room dance floor is perfectly acceptable for this

👉 Game Night: play some family games

👉 Movie night: 🍿 🎥 and some cuddles sound fantastic to
me. (Tip: Make it a pajama party for easy tuck in!)

👉 Home Theater 🎭 : tell the kids to dress up in some costumes and act out a play for you

👉 Balloon countdown 🎈: Write the hours til midnight on some balloons and let the kids pop a balloon every hour until midnight (Tip: cheat the times if you want the kids to go to bed early 😜)

👉 Mocktail Night 🍹 : make some mocktails for you and the family (recipes in my previous post)

👉 Motivation activity: make a list of all the things you’ve achieved in 2024 and things you want to achieve for 2025. Get your kids’ input, too!

👉 Go to bed early 🛌: Here’s your permission slip to go to bed early tonight. It’ll make for a great start into 2025!

Alcohol is a no-go during pregnancy, and should be limited while breastfeeding.

There is NO amount of alcohol that is safe during pregnancy - period❗️

And alcohol does transfer into breast milk (in small amounts) and can temporarily decrease your milk supply, so it’s best to time your alcohol intake wisely or avoid it completely while breastfeeding.

🎄 High Fat/High Protein Sugar Cookies 🎄

Makes 8 cookies

Ingredients:
1 cup Almond Flour
1/2 cup Protein or Collagen Powder (read below 👇 )
2 tbsps Maple Syrup to taste
1 tsp Vanilla extract
3 tbsps grass fed Butter
White Chocolate Chips (melted)
Sprinkles (optional)

*don’t have almond flour? Use coconut flour, oat flour/quick oats or any other GF flour you have on hand

Instructions:
1. Mix all ingredients except chocolate chips and sprinkles in a bowl. Roll into small balls. Freeze for about 30 to 60 minutes.
2. Dip in white chocolate and decorate with sprinkles. Freeze for about 15 minutes to set. Enjoy!

Here is a brief overview of my recommendations regarding Peppermint while breastfeeding (full details in the blog post):

👉 Avoid Large Amounts

That means don’t make it a daily habit and don’t eat a lot of it at one time. Occasional treats like Peppermint Hot Chocolate or a few peppermint candies are most likely ok.

👉 Avoid Concentrated Peppermint Products

I’m talking about peppermint essential oils! Diffusing peppermint oil around a small baby is also not recommended due to their sensitive and developing respiratory system

👉 Pay Attention to Your Body & Your Baby

If you notice a dip, it may (or may not) be the peppermint, but the first thing to do would be to stop consuming peppermint to see if your supply recovers. Certainly also watch your baby’s behavior, wet and dirty diaper output etc.

👉 Remember that Different Forms Have Different Potency

Peppermint Oil is the most concentrated form, whereas peppermint teas and flavored treats will have less. One might be ok while the other is not.

👉 ‼️ Don’t give Peppermint to Your Baby directly

Peppermint can have adverse effects on a baby’s developing skin, respiratory system and central nervous system. If you use peppermint water to heal cracked nipples, make sure to wipe everything off completely before baby latches. Don’t disperse peppermint oil with baby in the same house and don’t let your baby eat peppermint products.
